The Mediums Glasses I & II - Photographs printed onto old pairs of glasses using traditional darkroom techniques
I was inspired to produce a series of works based on nineteenth century occult and pseudo-scientific documentary photography. During the nineteenth century it was believed that camera technology could capture the spirit world and photographs appearing to show ghosts and a range of occult phenomena were often used as "evidence" for a world that lay beyond what we could see.

A Guide To Beetles is parts of a body of works that focus on “missing women” from history; women who could have been our greatest scientists, explorers and innovators but due to a lack of opportunity could never take their place. Although there are some well-known women scientists, explorers and innovators from earlier centuries their number amounts to a mere handful when compared to men, so I have begun to create works that honour all of those that are absent from the history books . The work depicts Dora Wright, a lady whose mind and talents should have made her the nineteenth centuries world leading expert in Coleopterology (the study of beetles). Instead, fate and circumstance drew her away from this impossible dream.
